3. How is Hotflex™ different from other
single-ingredient herbs for hot flashes and night sweats?
Unlike some of the herbal products in the market place, Hotflex™
is a multiple-ingredient herbal product.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) generally uses multiple herbs
to alleviate health-related symptoms and problems. The herbs’
synergistic and balancing functions maximize long-term benefits
and minimize side-effects.
A standard TCM herbal formula consists of four groups of herbs.
They are king herb(s), subject herb(s), assistant herb(s) and
servant herb(s). King herb(s) are the primary herbs in the formula;
they are used to relieve the primary symptom(s). Subject herb(s)
assists the king herb(s) to strengthen its action and to relieve
concurrent symptoms. Assistant herb(s) plays one of the three
roles: relieves minor symptoms, controls side-effects or reduces
the toxic effects of the king herb and the subject herb, or plays
an opposing or supplemental role to the action of the king herb.
Servant herb(s) either directs the formula to the affected area
or harmonize the herbs in a formula.
